Dear Members,

Following the European Parliament’s vote of 16 December 2025, the final text of the Omnibus I Directive was formally adopted by the European Council on 24 February 2026 and subsequently published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 26 February 2026. This legislative package significantly revises the European sustainability framework, including key aspects of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), which were designed to strengthen ESG reporting obligations and corporate due diligence requirements.

This conference will examine the impact of these recent developments on the Luxembourg banking sector and provide a practical overview of the regulatory framework that institutions must navigate. Particular focus will be placed on the changes introduced by the Omnibus I package, the balance sought by European legislators between sustainability objectives and regulatory simplification, and the consequences these reforms may have for banks and other market participants. At the same time, sustainability-related litigation is gaining momentum across Europe, with courts increasingly called upon to rule on matters involving climate commitments, human rights obligations, and corporate responsibility. Against this backdrop, the roundtable will explore emerging litigation trends and discuss how financial institutions can identify, assess, and mitigate the legal and reputational risks arising from these evolving judicial developments.

Our speakers will share their expertise and practical experience, providing participants with key insights into both the regulatory landscape and the practical and strategic considerations arising from these rapidly evolving issues.
