The Luxembourg fund landscape is undergoing a profound transformation. Products historically designed exclusively for institutional investors—with sophisticated strategies, flexible mandates, and higher thresholds—are increasingly being adapted and opened to private‑wealth and semi‑professional investors. This “retailisation” trend is reshaping how asset managers structure, govern, and distribute alternative investments.
Driven by investor demand for diversified exposures, by distributors broadening their offerings, and by regulatory frameworks adapting to new realities, the shift toward private wealth is now a strategic pivot point for the industry. Managers must balance accessibility and investor protection while maintaining operational robustness. In this context, the newly released CSSF Circular 25/901 introduces modernised principles for SIFs, SICARs and Part II UCIs—principles that directly influence how strategies can be designed and offered to a wider investor base.
This session will explore both sides of the equation:
- the business transition from institutional-only products to private‑wealth‑friendly solutions, and
- the regulatory grounding brought by CSSF 25/901.
